About Silbert Chiropractic Clinic, P.C. in Southgate
We provide a relaxed, family setting where you can get all of your health questions answered. We realize that each patient is special and we’re sensitive to the needs and concerns that you may have about your health. That’s why we work with every patient to devise a personalized care plan that will generate the maximum benefit for your specific condition in the shortest amount of time.

We've been delivering quality chiropractic care to the downriver community since 1990. Our approach is simple. We believe that health is among our most valuable possessions. While we generally meet people after their health has deteriorated, our commitment to our patients is extensive:
1. Acute Care
Dr. Silbert’s approach is designed not only to help you get out of pain, but to get you back to activity as rapidly as possible. After Dr. Silbert has determined that your pain is due to a mechanical cause, rather than something more serious (such as a tumor or infection), he can make recommendations. He will show you what you can do for yourself (i.e. what activities to avoid and which to perform). He will offer you customized treatments to speed your recovery. These will incorporate chiropractic, soft tissue, therapeutic care and supervised exercise methods.
We give you the power to heal yourself!
A necessary factor in getting better quickly is learning what "first-aid" exercises to do on your own. Most of these are basic limbering maneuvers or gentle exercises for your deep "core" muscles that stabilize your spine or joints. Once you learn this "first-aid" routine you are able to complete self treatment throughout the day to speed your healing.
2. Corrective Care
After experiencing acute care many patients realize that they could benefit from further treatment. More important than relieving your symptoms is restoring the normal function and health of the spine. This normally takes more time than acute care. Dr. Silbert gently adjusts specific joints in order to increase mobility. This improves the health in those joints that are showing signs of limited motion. Exercises also help to maintain that motion. The combination of chiropractic adjustments and an exercise program slowly normalize the motion of the joints in your spine. By the movement of the spinal joints, chiropractic care assists in keeping the spine strong, healthy and resistant to re-injury.
3. Chronic Care
Chronic patients are a special concern of ours. If you have chronic musculoskeletal pain (MSP), odds are you have tried many other treatments before and none have had a real lasting effect. Dr. Silbert’s goal is to help you return to your active lifestyle. You may have been told that you have to learn to live with the problem by other medical professionals. Some may have promised that they could fix it for you. Certain scientific investigations suggest that a "fix-it" approach does not work for chronic MSP. Dr. Silbert approaches MSP like asthma or diabetes. He helps you learn how to control and manage it better. You will learn "first-aid" measures for flare-ups so you will not fear or mind your pain so much. Most important, I will show you how to recondition your body so that you can return to activity safely.
4. Wellness Care a.k.a. Prevention
This involves a specialized assessment by Dr. Silbert and the creation of an individualized exercise program involving core stability training, yoga, pilates, weight training and flexibility exercises. Coming in will feel like going to a gym, yoga class or pilates studio. The atmosphere is always casual. Dress comfortably such as sweats, t-shirt or gym clothes. During your visits you will learn your personalized program that suits your goals and lifestyle. Many patients will continue to visit once every one to three months for ongoing monitoring of their workout programs.
After the problem areas of the spine have been corrected, occasional chiropractic visits are recommended to keep the health that you have worked so hard to obtain. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. It would be nice if you could have permanent restoration after a few chiropractic treatments. Unfortunately, the reality is, if the health of the spine is not maintained problems slowly return. Most patients come to experience the many benefits of chiropractic care and find that an occasional visit helps them to maintain those benefits. We encourage our patients to attain the highest levels of health they can. Through patient education (like this website), we hope to communicate the value of ongoing chiropractic care. Our desire is to see our patients discard the habit of waiting for symptoms and then taking action, in favor of wellness care.
